Ask yourself these two preliminary questions:
- Do I have a disability?
- Is my employer, school, landlord or a service provider refusing to perform its legal duty to accommodate my situation or not doing enough to accommodate my situation?
If the answer to these two questions is yes, you are likely right - your employer, school, landlord or a service provider may be engaging in discriminatory conduct.
This is not acceptable under the Ontario Human Rights Code and Canadian Human Rights Act. It is unacceptable because it prevents a person with disability from fully participating in society, whether in the workplace, school or housing. It is also not acceptable because Courts and Tribunals have repeatedly stated that such conduct is discrimination.
If you feel that you have been discriminated against or you are currently being discriminated against because of your disability (physical, mental, and learning disabilities, mental disorders, hearing or vision disabilities, drug and alcohol dependencies, epilepsy, environmental sensitivities, including other conditions), please contact us so that we can help you exercise your rights.
